tour of casco viejo

Happy new year everyone! We’re back from a  much needed vacation and excited to start this year off with renewed energy. My husband Mike and I spent two weeks in Panama touring through the old streets of Panama City, driving up to Santa Catalina on the Pacific coast and finishing the trip off in Bocas Del Toro. We had quite the adventure filled with beautiful beaches, bumpy roads, as much seafood as we could eat and $1 beers. There’s a few things we’d do differently in hindsight but I’d highly recommend Panama to those who like to explore off the beaten path.

We started our trip off in Panama City, here are a few photos of Casco Viejo, the old section of Panama City.  I could have walked all day taking photos of peeling paint, crumbling buildings, hand-painted signs and the shells of buildings being restored into boutique hotels and hip restaurants. While touring this area I highly recommend Rene Cafe in Plaza Independencia as well as Tantolo Restaurant and rooftop bar. We didn’t make it to the seafood market which I regret, apparently  it’s THE place to try every type of ceviche for cheap. Next time!
